The LOA

The Letter of Authority, also referred to as the LOA, is a critical document when we are looking to procure a client’s energy. Without a signed Letter of Authority we cannot look at your client's current energy spend, typical usage or current tariffs and prices. It is a regulated market and doing so without the express written permission of the client is illegal.
The Wording For The Letter of Authority

I hereby give permission for my appointed utility broker Diverse Utility Solutions Limited and their appointed associate ……………………………………. to deal directly with my energy suppliers for gas and electricity.

In signing this letter of authority, I hereby instruct my current supplier to allow Diverse Utility Solutions to request, negotiate and obtain information, including but not limited to, - consumption's, contract end dates, metering information, contract renewal prices, terms & conditions and any other information relevant to my energy supply.

Diverse Utility Solutions are authorised on my behalf to serve “Notice of Termination” in connection with any existing or proposed electricity and gas contracts and are able to resolve any issues arising for any energy supply.

I understand that Diverse Utility Solutions may need to conduct a credit check upon the above-named business.

Diverse Utility Solutions Limited undertakes that it shall use the customer data solely for the purposes of delivering the services specified in this document and may share that data with relevant third parties in order to do so.

I understand that Diverse Utility Solutions may need to conduct a credit check upon the above-named business.

My appointed energy broker does NOT have permission to enter into any contract without my prior permission.

This letter of Authority (LOA) supersedes any previous LOA and will remain valid until cancelled.

Tips on the LOA

When getting an LOA filled out, explain to the client that this document only allows us to gather information from their current supplier. It does not allow us to sign them into a new contract, it is purely so we can gain access to vital information that we need in order to bring the client new prices.

Remember the 3Cs, No Cost, No Catch, No Commitment. The client is not committed to using our services until they have seen our pricing report and signed a contract with the supplier and DUS.

The LOA only gives us permission to get the information that we need to price their contract accurately.

The LOA authorises DUS to terminate the clients current agreement, so they don't "roll over" into a new contract and pay more expensive rates on a roll over agreement.

We can't go any further without it. Sometimes it does help to read to the client the middle section of the LOA so they understand what they are agreeing to.
